Apologies to my few faithful readers. I’ve been stumped about this blog lately and what to do with it. The thought of “What do I write about first?” has been bugging me; there are SO many things I want to write about!
I’d tell myself, “Just write about something.” So I’d start with whatever entered my mind. Then, I’d get stuck, realizing that what’s second-nature to me isn’t to many amateur musicians and music lovers. As I tried to describe some of these concepts, I’d get so far away from what I wanted to be talking about, I’d give up.
When I did complete a post, it would take 2-3 hours. More time than I ever expected to take on this project!
Hopefully, this will get me unstuck.
I’m going to “Write what I know.” I’m still going to strive to write 3x a week about What I’m Studying, What I’m Listening to, and What I Know. I may branch out later, but at least it’s a start.
My next few posts will be about Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) since I’ll be performing the role of Count Almaviva in the fall.
Other suggestions? Send ‘em my way!

Every time I think of Marriage of Figaro I think of an episode of Bugs Bunny. Bugs is playing “the Barber of Seville.” He ‘grooms’ Elmer Fudd and they compete on how high to go on the barber chairs. At the very end they marry each other and the Marriage of Figaro is on the sign announcing the wedding…. And I think I was the only 9 year old who know what they were really poking fun at and WHY it was soooooo funny! (Yes, they used music from BOTH shows… I was rolling!) **Sighs** ahhhh the days of the Bugs Bunny and Friends Show…. talk about new uses for Classical Music! WOW! I’m STILL impressed!
Ok, discuss LOL
Good to have you back, BTW!
PS: I also think of the paper I had to write on the more gritty details of Marriage of Figaro… really I only had to do one part, for the life of me can’t remember WHICH one part right now… I probably slacked off and did the overture, anyway, I’ll have to dig that up some time and see just how bad it was…
Ahhhhh A link to it! Go look quick before they remove it LOL
Paul, I’m thrilled you’ve begun this site. I know little about classical music. I see others completely enthralled and I’ve since wanted to have a deeper appreciation/understanding of this form of art. This site has been bookmarked and I plan to visit a couple of times a week. That’s my story… I’m sticking to it, my friend.
